Note N02440View Tree for John MillerJohn Miller (b. 1772, d. Abt. 1860)
John Miller (son of George Miller and Elizabeth Braxton)4 was born 1772 in Pa.5, and died Abt. 1860 in Sangamon Co. IL.. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Antle on 10 Sep 1792 in Kentucky.
Includes NotesNotes for John Miller:
Born 1772 Green Go. KY. See also #9374 (Lineages) believes he was born about 1774.
1789 tax list for his father George Lincoln Go. KY also lists 2 sons age 16-21 so born 1768-1773.
When John Miller married Betsy Antle in 1792 he signed the marriage bond himself and married without concent. This indicates that he was
21 or over so was born before 1772. Therefore John was one of the two boys aged 16-21 in 1789 (tax list) Additionally, George Miller was
taxed for himself and one male aged sixteen to 21 in 1787 which indicates that one of the two boys in 1789 was under sixteen in 1787 so was born 1772-74.
When George Miller died he left a will, now lost, in which he
presumably named his wife Elizabeth executrix and his son John executor. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that John was the eldest son.
It
is also reasonable to conclude that John, Christopher and Jacob Miller
who were taxed in Green county KY in 1800 were the sons of George and Elizabeth Miller.
1792 married Elizabeth Antle. (Lineages) Because of close contact
with the Antle family both in Kentucky and Sangamon County, Illinois,
it is
likely that John is the John Miller who made a marriage bond with James Downing for marriage to Betsy Antle. The bond, dated 10 Sept 1792 was made in Lincoln County, Kentucky, and reports that Betsey was the daughter of Henry Antle

A power of attorney from Elizabeth Miller of Adair county , KY to John Miller of Cumberland county, KY authorizing John to act for Elizabeth
in matters dealing with the estate of her deceased husband, George Miller. John and Elizabeth were named executor and executrix of the estate. This record proves that George left a well, because he was the only person
who could name executors for his estate. The record also suggests that the will was proved in Cumberland county. Deed records of Cumberland county should be examined, as well as the 1799 and 1805 tax lists.
