Biography

Harold Lee Miller was born on 3 October 1960 in Newark, Licking County, Ohio, the older of two children, both sons of Harold Lee and Ellen Callaway Miller.
In 1984, when he was in his mid-twenties, Lee graduated cum laude from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina.
His occupation is that of landscape architect.
On 24 September 1988, shortly before his twenty-eighth birthday, he married Joanna Franks in Aiken, Aiken County, South Carolina. She bore him three children, two sons and one daughter:
  1. Trenton Miller
  2. Christina Miller
  3. Jason Miller.
In August 2013 Lee was found to have colon cancer that was quickly treated surgically and thought to not have spread. However, in 2015 it was found to have metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes. After subsequent opinions from Sloan Kettering in New York and Duke he underwent early treatment of chemo in August and surgery in December 2015 under Duke protocol----at the time he was cancer free but faced six more treatments of chemo as a matter of precaution. Later in August 2016 small cancerous tumors were found in the lungs. Lee entered another chemotherapy cycle from October 2016 to June 2017. Cancer treatment has come a long way and according to the Doctors he has had a miraculous recovery and respite. In late 2017 a small tumor was found on the lung and surgery followed February 2018. Another outbreak occurred in late summer 2018 and chemo began again in October and is expected to complete in April 2019. Presently (March 2019) the tumors are reducing and blood markers are nearing a normal (remission) range. Lee has always been a person of strong faith and there is no question that some God-given miracles have been present---Lee holds the position of a Project Manager at the University of South Carolina and has been able to continue working with pauses only for the surgeries. (Lee writing): God, my Father and Creator is incredibly gracious and His power through Christ has stregthened and sustained me. Though I am still in the fight, I have experienced healings and His presence in ways that are beyond the physical, which is temorary for us all anyway. He has not finished writing my story and I look forward to the adventure of God's loving, perfect will in this life and enduring eternally in the next!
