Biography
Jane (Metcalf) Anderson was born in 1845 in Embsay, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, daughter of William Metcalf and Ann (Parker) Metcalf.
Jane (~26) married Thomas Anderson (28) on 21 Jun 1872[1] in Queensberry Farm, Upper Clutha, Otago, New Zealand. Their children were:

Jane died on 4 Sep 1923 in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand aged ~78.[2]
Obituary.—A one-time resident of Albert Town, Wanaka, in the person of Mrs Jane Anderson, St. Kilda, passed away. As a young girl Jane Metcaife, as she then was, came out to Canterbury with her god-mother, the late Mrs C. Lindsay (her father having been accidentally killed in England by a premature explosion while working on a railway embankment). Mrs Lindsay and her daughter removed to Dunedin, passing through Oamaru before there was a house in it. The deceased went to Albert Town to assist Mr and Mrs Norman and some time later married Mr Thomas Anderson, of Queensbury. They afterwards removed to St Kilda, where the husband died about two years ago.[3]

11th May 1870 George Marland leaves New Zealand for Australia on the ship Gothenburgh 2 weeks before the birth of son, William James.
On 21st June 1872 Jane Metcalf marries Thomas Anderson in Queenstown ,Otago, New Zealand.
Jane and Thomas have their first child Isabella Anderson on 16th September 1872, 3 months after they were married.
21st March 1873 Jane's first child George Henry Marland is sent to Australia aged about 8 years to live with his father George Marland.
William James Marland has no further records but Jane's other son Caleb lives with her and Thomas Anderson and in all future records is referred to as the son of Thomas Anderson.
