Francis was born about 1627 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. [1]
Assuming he stayed in Newcastle from birth till marriage, he would've been living in the city during a military occupation during the 2nd Bishops War in 1640 and lived through the eight month siege and subsequent military occupation of the city during the English 1st Civil War in 1644.
He married Elizabeth Crosbe on May 27, 1647[2]
Based on the birth/baptism records of his children, we can trace Francis and Elizabeth from Newcastle to Penrith and then to Cliburn[3]
All records before 1662 did not have the letter "s" at the end of the name. After 1662, the "s" started to appear in some records. By the 1700's, the spelling of the name was definitely Meeks.
His wife Elizabeth was buried on May 7, 1681.[4] The record mentioned that she was a widow. So this means that Francis died sometime between 1670 and 1681.

England doesn't use the word County after county names, so it gives an error message (which I have edited in your location fields and biography). The only one that includes County is "County Durham". Confusing, isn't it?
Kind regard, Gill
