Born Giovanni Angelo Medici in Milan on 31 March 1499, Giovanni Angleo de Medici was the son of Bernardino de Medici and his wife, Clelia Serbelloni.
Giovanni was elected Pope on 25 December 1559 and chose the name Pius IV.
Pius died on 9 December 1565 and was buried in Santa Maria degli Angeli.
