Albert was born 14 Feb 1848 in Christian County, Kentucky, United States.^[1][2] He was the son of James Allen Meacham (of North Carolina) and Sarah R. Henderson Meacham (of Kentucky).^[3]

Albert, a farmer born in Christian County Kentucky, joined the Union Army at 18. Enlisted 5 Nov 1863 in Company L, 3rd Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry in Hopkinsville Kentucky for 3 years. Mustered in 28 Dec 1863. In Dec-Apr 1864 Muster Roll is indicated as with detachment to Ringgold, Georgia. Mustered out 15 Jul 1865 in Lexington, North Carolina. ^[4][5][2]

Shortly after Albert's muster in, the Regiment joined the Atlanta campaign under General Sherman and were engaged in daily heavy fighting. They participated in the pursuit of Hood all through Northern Georgia and Alabama, the siege of Savannah, the occupation of Raleigh and the surrender of Johnston and his army. ^[6]

Albert married Ella Strong (1863-1903) 25 Feb 1883 in Los Angeles County, California, United States.^[3] This was the first marriage for each. Father and mother of Albert were natives of North Carolina; father of Ella born in Ohio, mother in Connecticut.^[7]

Albert was a member of the Central Christian Church of Pasadena for 22 years and a member of the John F. Godfrey Post, G.A.R.^[8]

He passed away on 28 Aug 1931^[2] in Pomona, Los Angeles, California, United States and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California.^[8][1][3]

Albert is survived by his daughter Mrs. Shirley Isabelle Plummer of San Dimas, California, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.^[8]
