looking for information on Peter Dozier, Dosier , Doshier, born 1762 died 1838, he is my gggg grand father . my fathers name was Lee Doshier his father was Ammon, and his father was Wiley Peter and his father was Peter. My daughter is trying to join the DAR and need a direct line can anyone help .
I have found duplicates in my tree. One is me. McPhetridge-8 that I entered and McPhetridge-30 that someone else entered. My father was duplicated and I tried to merge him but I believe the deleted McPhetridge-29 had sources that did not transfer. The surviving entry was McPhetridge-7. There are errors in my grandfather's children from his 2nd wife, Ethel Rutledge McPhetridge.
It is messy and I'm afraid I am or will make it messier.
When I tried to watch the You Tube video on merging, it required I log into Google. I deliberately don't have a google presence. So I'm at a bit of an impasse. I do believe that the entries I made were correct but these other entries are creating duplicates. They seem to be added based on The Swafford book which contains information I submitted years ago to the author. What do you suggest?
I really don't need to spend time learning how to correct the work of others.
It can be confusing sometimes when we try to merge duplicate profiles. I'm no longer a Mentor, but I took a look at your father's merged profile. There appear to be no lost sources. Everything that was in each separate profile can be found in the merged profile. When you do merge two profiles, the system automatically includes all the information in the biography and sources section in the final profile. If there is something you do not want to keep, you must manually remove it.

I understand your reluctance to use Google. But have you checked out the Help pages with information on Merging? You might take a look at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:WikiTree_Help and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Merging. They have a lot of information and do not require you to watch a video.
Since I am no longer a Mentor, at 78 years old I decided to retire from that work, you can request the assistance of another Mentor on this page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Contact_a_Mentor
Wishing you luck with your ancestor hunting!
