Years ago I discovered that my mission in life consisted of two parts. The first involves the most important journey for all of us, our exploration of our spiritual life. This has been an important journey for me but also for me to assist my students and colleagues in their own journey. The second is to assist in helping students and colleagues explore their own purpose in life.
I began my career as a campus minister and caregiver while I was still a student at the University of Illinois and continued for eight years following my graduation. It then seemed appropriate for me to attend seminary to clarify my theology and explore new directions. While in seminary at Western, I also enrolled in two units of Clinical Pastoral Education in order to enhance my self understanding and gain a more clinical experience of caregiving. For about twelve years I pastored in three Reformed Church in America churches in the midwest and pacific northwest. While I was gaining skills in pastoral leadership, I also took courses at Denver Theological Seminary on Marriage and Family Therapy. I did not earn a degree but I discovered that I wanted to continue my exploration around Clinical Pastoral Education. In the process, my CPE supervisor encouraged me to continue my studies around being an educator and supervisor for pastors and chaplains. I found a fulfilling and enriching career entering into the lives and ministry of a number of students, clients and families in Idaho, West Virginia, and Illinois. After some consideration I decided to retire!
While in retirement I still wanted to learn about my self and what the future held for me. Therefore, I spent two years in Yoga teacher training. Here I was introduced to the depth and variety that yoga offers. I explored mindfulness and meditation and found an exciting journey exploring my spirituality in a new way. During that time I also studied Reiki and became a practitioner using the natural energy of the body. Finally, I will add that I am a certified Enneagram teacher. The Enneagram is an excellent tool for exploring the difference between personality and essence, who we truly are. My career has always involved people. Significant aspects of my caring for people included communication, planning, management, as well as listening and empathy. I have developed, certified, and led educational programs.

How are you? I'm David a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site. Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.
Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources.
Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:

I see that you just volunteered and signed our honor code. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically significant ancestors? I see you have surnames for tags. Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Let me know if you need any help!
We're glad to have you on board!!
