Biography

Jessie was born in 1874 in Campbeltown, Scotland. She was the daughter of Duncan Drain and Janet McNair.^[1]

Her parents were not married when she was born. Her mother filed a paternity suit and in 1878 they were married. ^{[2] [3]}

She came to the Unter States with her parents in 1879. ^[4]

They settled in Rockford, Illinois. ^[5]

She married Joseph Love in 1898. ^[6]

They farmed in Winnebago. ^{[7][8][9][10][11]}

Jessie passed away in 1935. ^[12]

Dies Near Winnebago

Winnebago, April 5– Mrs. Jessie Drain Love, prominent resident of the Middle Creek community, died suddenly at her home at 6 pm today.

Born in Scotland on March 14 1876 [sic] she resided in this community many years. She attended Winnebago High School and was married to Joseph Love on February 10, 1898. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Stuart and Horace, both at home and a daughter, Mrs. Lewis Powell, and a sister , Mrs. Susan’s Greenlee, Rockland. ^[13]
