Biography

Dinah was born in Whitehaven, Cumberland about 1818. [1] Although other sources indicate she was born in Scotland.

She married John Cape prior to 1840 (no marriage record has been located). Together they had 4 children prior to John's death in about 1847.

Their family lived in Brigham, Cumberland, England.[11] By 1851, she was a widow and employed at a flax mill.[1]

In the 1861 census Dinah (age 39) lived alone in Papcastle, Cumberland, England. She worked as a rover (sic) in a mill.[12]
