Military

U.S. Civil War

McLAREN, DANIEL.—Age, 26 years. Enlisted, July 29, 1862, at Morristown, to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co. B, August 27, 1862; died of typhoid fever, February 26, 1863, at Martinsburg, Va.[1]

Research Notes

The 1860 New York census lists a son, Theodore, b. 1859 in New York. It appears that his mother Agnes McLaren married William Taylor after her first husband, Daniel, died. A son, being raised in their household is listed as Harvey McLaren, aged 11, in the 1870 census. I assume this is the same child based on the age. An additional son, Daniel G. McLaren, aged 7, is also listed in the 1870 census household. There is a later marriage record for this son that includes both Daniel and Agnes as his parents.
