P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

I am frustrated with figuring out how to source something "properly". I was trying to look at how other people do it and it seems there is no one way, but I want it to be as standard as possible. Is there a standard way? Also I am starting with a Gedcom tree imported from somewhere else so when you start up there is not basic instructions for that either. I think I have figured that out though, but are there basic instructions for that? But running into these two problems this sort of went on the back burner. Also with the days getting warmer and sunnier this is now also a rainy day project.

Of course now I just found this under editing! I wish this was in the main menu of things. When I look at all the other intro stuff it was so basic it I didn't want to read it. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources

Hi Rachel,

I am glad that you found the Help Sources. That is the first place I always go to when I need to find something. You found it a lot faster than I did though.

Your next step is to figure out what WikiTree named the item you are looking for. In your case it is fairly simple. In fact I will give you the link you need to go to for the Ged Com: [1].

Here is the link to the page on sourcing: [2]

I hope this helps Rachel.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me again.

Cheryl

Thank you! I just uploaded my Gedcom file of 800 plus blood relatives. I had been working on different sites over the years and got tired of paying so I went to Geni that let me put in stuff, but it is too hard to link to other people there without paying. I am sure I will have questions, once my file is uploaded I will dig in more!
