James Smith McDonnell was an influential American aircraft industrialist and engineer who founded the McDonnell Aircraft Company.
James was born in 1899. [1] His parents are James Smith McDonnell and Susan Belle Hunter. He graduated from Little Rock High School, Princeton University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He founded McDonnell Aircraft Corporation which later merged to become McDonnell Douglas. He also founded the James S. McDonnell Foundation.
He passed away in 1980. He is buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery, Saint Louis, Missouri. [2]
