I believe Sherman and Dorothy are his parents. In a bundle of family documents that I have (mostly copies of the originals and without citations), there are transcripts of obituaries for Sherman and for Dorothy. James was included in one of the obituaries as their third child, born after Pearl and before Charlie F. That referred to publication in an Anthony, KS newspaper but without a date. I did a quick search--some of it is on Newspapers.com--but didn't find it in the short time I looked.

I'm glad you have caught it.

Thank you so much, I've added him to his parents, Dismal is very special to me, and I just placed a Tombstone for the unmarked graves (should be getting placed this week) in Dismal. As part of that I have been trying to connect everyone there to the greater tree, and this note, and Pamela's helped make that happen.. he can now come off the unlinked profiles.

The tombstone shows that the parents of James P. McCaleb were S.G. and D.C. McCaleb. Sherman Grant McCaleb (1866-1924) and his wife Dorthula (sp?) Christine Griffith (1869-1924) were the parents of a child named James P. McCaleb. The family left Tennessee for Kansas after this child's death date if I remember correctly. Hope this helps!

That does help, as being the only McCaleb in the cemetery, going of initials would be iffy.. so thank you... I'll look to connect him with his parents shortly.
