The addition made to the profile for John Knowles is a cut & paste from a published work. Please just summarize and cite the source. See Help: Copying Text for more detail.

Thanks much for the input. I understand and your point is taken.
I chose to include this existing well done summary bio of an interesting early American with many descendants, since it is far more valuable than the GEDCOM junk that was previously there. I did use quotation marks and cite the source, which is in the public domain. I personally find the most interesting WikiTree profiles are those with extensive and well-researched biographies vs. those that simply contain a duplication of the information in the in the header with links to sources. Thanks also for all your contributions to the WikiTree community!!
It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)
If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.
Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Today you completed a merge of Klinefelter-391 into Kunkel-585. This was the reverse of what should have occured: Kenkel should have been merged into Klinefelter, as Klinefelter was her LNAB. Please read the following help page on Merges: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Merging.
It's really important to merge profiles correctly because merged profiles can't be undone. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks! Traci
Thanks for also adding the note to the profile for the PMs to make the correction.
Best, Todd
I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well!
If I don’t hear back from you by the end of April, I will assume you no longer wish to be a member of the Germany Project and I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.
Best wishes,
Traci ~ Germany Project co-leader
The Germany Project leadership is doing semi-annual check-ins with all project members and we want to verify that you’re interested in being a member of the Project. As a brand new member, you would normally be exempt from this check-in; however, I noticed that you have not yet joined our Google Group, where the project communicates. Please submit a join request here.
Also, please add GERMANY to your list of G2G tags so you don't miss any discussions in G2G (see: Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags Help:Tags).
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks,
Traci ~ Germany Project co-leader
Thanks for joining the Germany Project! I've awarded you a project member badge.
Please read the Germany project page and add GERMANY to your list of followed G2G tags. When you have a chance, please submit a join request to our Google Group, where our project communicates. Please make sure to add your name and WikiTree ID to the request so we can get you set up. Here's a link: https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreegermanroots
The Germany Project has several teams that cover regional, functional, historical and migrational interests. Please check them out and let me know which team(s) you'd like to join. As your ancestor was from Württemberg, you might consider joining our Baden-Württemberg team. The team page has a lot of resources you can use to find your family and you can always post to our Google Group or G2G to get extra help.
We look forward to working with you!

Please realize that I didn't add any content in my recent bio edit for Edward. It was a total mish-mash of info and was completely unreadable. Yes - I did check the Huguenot Society to ensure that Maxey is not a recognized surname. That point was already in the bio, but I wanted to confirm it.
I recall this '"controversy" since first reading TMOV over 30 years ago. It would be great if WikiTree could help resolve it. I think it is helpful to add musings/observations such as yours in the Research Notes section. Maybe a definitive answer will emerge as more DNA data becomes available.
My only related "data point" is that my line of Maxey's claimed that we were Presbyterians back to the "beginning." That really doesn't help this debate much though since Huguenots and Presbyterians both have a common source (John Calvin) and apparently many Huguenots became Presbyterians after arriving in Virginia.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Sources are very important here on Wikitree, especially on Pre-1700 profiles. It is how we show where we got the info and help others find it too. Find out more about sources here and more detailed info here.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.
Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. If you have any questions, be sure to use the "reply link" for this comment so that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page.
