Biography
Anne Mattle, wife of William Douglas, immigrated to New England with her husband by 1640.
Anne Mattle (also recorded as Motley) was the daughter of Thomas Mattle of Ringstead, Northamptonshire, where she was born in 1601 or in about 1604. In a May 1670 deposition in Boston, she said she was age 66 (indicating birth in about 1604) and was the only surviving heir of Thomas Mattle of Ringstead.[1][2] A daughter of Thomas Motley named Anne was baptized at Denford (which was served by the same vicar who served Ringstead) on 20 September 1601.[3] This might be her baptism; or it is also possible that the child baptized in 1601 died young, and this Anne was born in about 1604, but does not have a surviving baptism record. (The is a gap in the baptism records of children of Thomas for the years between 1601 and 1606.)[1]
Ann, born about 1635-6, in England. She may be Anne, the daughter of William Dowglasse, who was baptized 12 June 1636 at St. Mary Bothaw, London.[4] She married Nathaniel Geary at Roxbury, on October 14, 1658. She probably is the Anne Gary who married (as her second husband) Thomas Bishop at Roxbury, June 7, 1683.[5][6]
Elizabeth, baptized 19 November 1637 at St. Mary Whitechapel, Middlesex, England; probably the Elizabeth Dowglasse who was buried at that same parish on 12 March 1639/40.
Robert, baptized (probably) on 6 March 1638/9 at St. Mary Whitechapel, Middlesex, England; married Mary Hempstead in New London, Connecticut, in 1665.
Elizabeth, born 26 6m (August) 1641 at Ipswich, Massachusetts; baptized in Boston on 8 March 1646/7; married Deacon John Chandler.
Sarah, born 8 2 m. (April) 1643 at Ipswich; baptized in Boston on 8 March 1646/7; married John Keeney.
William, born 1 2 m. (1 April) 1645 at Boston; baptized in Boston on 8 March 1646/7; married (1) Abiah Howe in New London in 1667, and (2) Mrs. Mary (Seamer) Bushnell, in 1715.
The 1670 deposition is the last known record for her. Douglas indicates that she died in New London, Connecticut, in about 1685, but does not explain the evidence for this statement.[2] Her husband died in 1682.[7]
Sept 5, 2011 from B. H. Howes _Douglas researcher:
His wife's name was Anne Motley and she was b 1601 not 1610 (bp Denford, Northants, 1601). Her fa was Thomas Motley/Matlatt (his will spells his name 3 different ways but Motley is the first and his children are all registered at Motley/Motleye). William's parents are not known but current research points to him being born locally (Northamptonshire) to William and Anne Jenniwai Douglass in Easton Maudit, Northants, not to Robert and Jean Ross in Scotland. I'll say that the man b to Robert and Jean is not William of New London, but the William of Easton. Maudit is not yet proven to be married to Anne Motley (of Ringstead). William and Anne had 6 children.

Why is this personage shunned while the three Poore's [are held to be real people living around primitive Massachusetts and there is no true records of them. Even by the Great Migration project. With death records years long after never being seen with their known children
And a second family. The Bevilles All deceased by known records are found to be living in Windsor Conneciticut
Ed, I'm agreeing with Jillaine (below) it's difficult to understand your question.
I'm guessing the three Poore's you're referring to are probable siblings Alice, Daniel and Samuel Poor; listed separately in The Great Migration Directory page 269. The 3 migrated on the Bevis in 1638. The record for their migration is found in Drake's Founders, p. 61 here[1]. But what person is being shunned?
I don't know anything about the family Bevill. There are none listed with that spelling in The Great Migration Directory, Ed. Can you supply more information, please?
Motley-314 and Mattle-1 appear to represent the same person because: Proposing merge into PPP spelling Mattle. Birth year for Ann Mattle is either 1601 or about 1610 based on sources. Both are daughters of Thomas. Spouse on -1 is correct, and matches current last name on -314. Daughters Ann on both profiles, with same birthdate, death date, spouse. Death date on -1 is correct, and death places match. Please merge
The following was posted to the PGM page but really belongs here:
"Have you seen that there is a proposed merger for Mattle-1?
Ann Douglas formerly Mattle aka Motley
The other profile is Motley only. Birth/Death dates are not the same, but locations are.
David Dodd"
Please see the unmerged match.
I found then added the full citation & link to TAG74 "The Eng. Origin of Anne Motley/Matley/Mattle, Wife of William Douglas of New London, Connecticut" - under see also. (on p. 278 it shows an indication of the possibe existence of two Anne Motley who were siblings.
Time is not available for me to dig further to discover whether these two profiles should be merged together Anyone else have time?
Calkins in her History of New London, page 300, states that Ann "was the daughter of Thomas, and sister of Robert Mattle, of Ringstead, in Northamptonshire; both of whom had deceased before 1670, leaving property to which she was the legal heir." As a source she cites "depositions taken before Gov. Bellinghom of Mass., on records in New London".
Is this a good enough source to add a brother Robert Mattel?
The book is available in its entirety on google books, though a few pages are missing bits that didn't get scanned in the google edition.
I believe this is the baptism record for Ann Mattle.

Mable-14 and Mattle-1 appear to represent the same person because: These two profiles need to be merged. Mattel-1 is the correct name, not Mable.. Please see documentation that was added to profile.
Mattle-21 and Mattle-1 appear to represent the same person because: Birthdate 1610 of Ann Mattle was evidently incorrect in Savage's according to a Douglas researcher. He gives the correct date as 1601. Date and place of death Mattle-21 seem to be confused with another person. Information on Mattle-1 is correct, see research notes there. Merging these two profiles would be in the best interest since it would not involve changing the names.
Why is the birth name of Mattle given to a child of Edmund Chandler? Shouldn't the birth name be Chandler? There is an Ann Mattle or Mattley from Ringstead with a 1601 birthdate (acc to a Douglas researcher, her 1610 birthdate was false in Savage's), but she is the daughter of Thomas Mattle and married William Douglass, Sr. Their daughter Elizabeth Douglas married Deacon John Chandler.
Hi Angela, I have set an unmerged match with Mattle-22. if you agree, then we should merge the two, as well as the husbands. Mattle seems to be the spelling in most of the records. I added a document to your profile for documentation. Now to merge the husbands.
