Biography
Elizabeth was the daughter of Anthony Matthews and Lois Fowell. She had died before her father wrote his Will in 1730, although her son Francis Holmes, an infant, is named. When her brother George Matthews wrote his Will in 1768, he left a bequest to Ann Simmons and Elizabeth Farr, daughters of his deceased nephew Francis Holmes, only child of his sister Elizabeth.[1]
Her husband is presumed to be Francis Holmes (d. abt 1728), by whom she had her son Francis Holmes. Her husband Francis had remarried on 8 March 1722, so she was dead before that date.[2]
