Biography

Arvillien was born in 1861 and baptized in Church Point, Louisiana. He is the son of Gervais "Harvey" Matte and Emilia Janis. [1]

He married Coralie Leger, the daughter of Jerome Leger and Irma Daigle, on 31 Dec 1883 in Church Point. [2]

He died in 1938 and was buried in the Old Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Church Point, Louisiana. His tombstone reads: "Arville Matte, 1862-1938". [3] [4]

    Funeral services were conducted at 6 p. m. Tuesday for Orville Matte, 75-year-old farmer of the Church Point section, who died at 6 p. m. Monday at his home. The services were conducted at the Sacred Heart of Mary church at Church Point with interment in the cemetery there. The Geesey-Ferguson-Mc-Bride Funeral home had charge of arrangements. Besides his widow, the former Miss Coralie Matte, there survive two sons, Eugene and Horace, and Harvey, Aldest, Ernest, Threville, Mrs. Gustave leger of Church Point and Mrs. Joe Brown of Eunice, brothers and sisters.
