Elsie Rosaline Masson was born on 29 Sep 1890 in Melbourne, Australia. She was the daughter of David Orme Masson and Mary (Struthers) Masson.

Elsie Rosaline Masson married the anthropologist Bronisław Kasper Malinowski on 6 Mar 1919 in Melbourne.
Elsie and her husband travelled extensively, and their three daughters were all born in different countries.
Elsie began showing symptoms in 1924 and was diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis in 1928. She passed away in September 1935 in Austria.
