Biography

Matthew Marvin Jr. immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Matthew Marvin: bpt 8 Nov 1626, Great Bentley; immigrated, age 8, 1635 on the Increase;(see Hotten p 65) m. about 1656 Mary ______; she was living in 1717.[1]

Matthew Marvin was born 15 September 1626 in Great Bentley, Essex, England. He was baptized 8 November 1626 in St. Mary's Church located in Great Bentley.[2] He was the son of Matthew Marvin and his first wife, Elizabeth _______[2] (it is widely believed that her surname was Gregory, but to date, there is no evidence).

He married, about 1650, Mary ____. They had eight (8) children:[2]

Matthew emigrated to America aboard the Increase, Robert Lea, Master, in 1635[2] at the age of about nine.

He represented Norwalk as a Deputy to the Connecticut Legislature in May 1694, May 1697, and October 1697. Matthew passed away in 1712, in Norwalk, Connecticut.[2]

Matthew married Mary Brush in 1659/60 at Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut Commonwealth.[3]
