Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1856, at Tweedmouth, Northumberland.

Elizabeth Marshall married James Outterson (or Outerson) in 1878 at Eccles, Berwickshire, in Scotland. Then what? Spelling was irregular: Outerson, Outterson, Oughterstone, Utterson, Aterson, were all found in Berwickshire. Identification becomes problematic.

Birth record of son George Outerson in 1881 at Portobello, Edinburghshire, showed his mother's name as “Elizabeth Marshall Outerson” (just one "t".)

The 1901 UK census at Berwick-upon-Tweed showed Elizabeth Outerson (just one "t".), age 45, born about 1856 at Ord, Northumberland, was head of household, with sons John, William & George.

A death record in 1938 in Northumberland North First, northern England, showed “Elizabeth M Outterson” (two letters "t".) Despite the spelling difference - and use of an initial instead of middle name - they seem to be the same person. The exact date and place of death aren't shown, simply "Apr-May-Jun 1938" in "Northumberland North First".
