Elizabeth (Marks) Cornelius was born in Cornwall, England.

Elizabeth Marks was born about 1816 and was baptised on 21st April 1816 at St Kew, Cornwall, England. Her parents were James Marks and Elizabeth Lawrence. ^[1]

Elizabeth Marks married James Cornelius on 22nd April 1837 at Lanteglos by Camelford, Cornwall, England. ^[2]

Elizabeth and James Cornelius had five children.

2. Thomas Cornelius b. 1841
3. Elizabeth Cornelius b. 1843
4. Emily Cornelius b. 1849
5. Arabella Cornelius b. 1855

James and his family, including his 73 year old mother, Frances Cornelius, emigrated to South Australia in 1858 onboard "General Hewett". They departed Plymouth on 11th May and arrived at Port Adelaide on 11th September. ^[3]

Elizabeth Cornelius died on 2nd July 1905 at Willunga, South Australia, Australia. ^[4]

She was buried in the Willunga Uniting Cemetery, Willunga, South Australia, Australia. ^[5]
