Cause of death: Died in aircraft accident, on a flight out of Port Elizabeth. The canopy hinge of his Impala broke resulting in the locking mechanism impacting his helmet and either rendering him unconscious or killing him instantly. This occurred at approx. 11,000 AGL and terminated in an almost vertical impact with the ground on the farm "Welgevonden", between Steytlerville and Uitenhage, in Atlas MB326M Impala Mk I #465. [2]
