Antonio, my paternal grandfather, was born 1878 in Villorba a small village in the Treviso area in northern Italy. He was widowed by his first wife Maria Berlese and at the age of 53 married my grandmother Luigina Santa Stramare age 34. In poor health and home alone Antonio died at the age of 79 of dehydration.
I found his name on the list of mitilary recruitment. What a lucky find, finally I had his birth date. The list gives an entry that Antonio was issued a passport on 14 March 1904 for travel to Germany. Does that mean the military posted a married man and father of a 2 year old child abroad?
Marriage Record: Antonio Marcon—Luigia Stramare.
