Biography
Gabriel Marchand est né le 21 et a été baptisé le 22 novembre 1780 à Québec; fils de Louis Marchand, capitaine de navire, et de dame Françoise Roussel, son épouse; le parain a été le Sr Louis Marchand negotiant en cette ville, et la mareine dame Louise Roussel (signe Roussel Soupiran) épouse du sieur Soupiran, oncle et tante de l'enfant qui ont signé avec nous et le père[1] [2] [3]
Le 1er janvier 1807, il épousa Amanda Bingham, fille de Abner Bingham et de son épouse Nabby dans l'église anglicane de Venise-en-Québec[4]
Après la mort de sa femme, survenue en 1809, Marchand se remaria le 6 octobre de l’année suivante, à la cathédrale Holy Trinity de Québec, avec Mary Macnider, fille de son ancien patron ; de ce second mariage naquirent six enfants. [5]
