Some of my Fleming relatives moved to upstate NY to work on the Eire Canal in the early 1800s. There is a book published in 1903 by Publius Lawson, President of the Wisconsin Library Ass'n. titled Family Genealogy that chronicled the move through letters back to relatives in NJ. Jacob Cook Fleming resided in Pultneyville, NY and is buried there. He brought other family members with him and they moved throughout upstate NY.
