Alexander Mansfield is an Anzac who served in World War One.
Alexander James MANSFIELD was born on 2 June 1896 in Swindon, Wiltshire, England[1]. His parents were James John Tancock MANSFIELD and Lilian Jane Annie HART.
1901, 4 year old, Alexander MANSFIELD was living in Kingsbridge, Devon, England with his parents, James (age 28, Bank Cashier) and Lillian (30), brother, Robert (1) and a servant, Elenor CHUBB (27)[2].
1911, 14 year old, school boy, Alexander MANSFIELD was living in Newport, Shropshire, England with his parents, James (age 38, Bank Cashier) and Lillian (40), siblings, Robert (11) and Lorna (6) and a servant, Edith BROWN (19)[3].
The steamship, Orvieto set sail from London, England on 21 November 1913 with Alex MANSFIELD among the passengers and arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia on 23 December 1913[4][5]. The Orvieto continued on to the eastern states finally finishing it's journey in Brisbane, Queensland on 5 January 1914.

Lance Corporal Alexander Mansfield served in the Australian Imperial Force in World War I Service started: 12 Nov 1914 Unit(s): 2rd/16th Battalion Service ended: 9 May 1919
Force; Service number: 1503[6]. He was assigned to the 2rd/16th Battalion, set sail for Europe aboard the Itonus on 22 February 1915, attained the rank of Lance Corporal, was wounded in action on 26 May 1915 (Gallipoli) and again on wounded in action 26 September 1917, returned to Australia aboard the Berrima (2 January 1919-10 February 1919) and was discharged on 9 May 1919.
Gladys Beryl Lavinia JOHNSON and Alexander James MANSFIELD were married on 22 August 1919 at Wesley Church, Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia[7].
MANSFIELD—JOHNSON.—On August 22, at Wesley Church, Fremantle, by the Rev. Wellesley Wellington, Alex. James Mansfield, eldest son of John James Mansfield, of Kensington-place, Newport, Mon., to Gladys Beryl Lavina Johnson, eldest daughter of Mrs. Hugh McDonald, of 83 Fitzgerald-street, Fremantle.
