William James Henry Maltman was born in Ireland.
Birth
William James Henry Maltman was born about 1858 in County Down, Ireland. He was the son of Henry Maltman and Agnes Kean McFerran.
Marriage
William married Swiss-born Louise Zaugg. They were married in the Donaghadee parish church on 25th June 1878. [1]
William and Louise had eleven known children.
William served in connection with Messrs Thompson's Prince's Restaurant and had charge of the catering at many important functions in Belfast, including those for Lord Pirrie at the Queen's Island. (Lord Pirrie was the chairman of Harland and Wolff from 1895 to 1924 and the Queen's Island is/was the H&W shipyard)
In the 1901 Ireland Census, William, age 42, was living on Dublin Road, Windsor Ward in Belfast. He was with his wife and 8 unmarried children. He was a waiter.[2]
