Mario Stefano Magliano was born on 4 November 1894 in Turin, Turin, Piedmont, Italy, son of Michele Magliano and Rosa Vaser. ^[1]

The Aga Khan
Mario's sister Teresa Magliano, age 19, was a promising young dancer of the Ballet Opéra of Monte Carlo when she met and fell in love with Sultan Muhammad Shah, Aga Khan III, the 48th Imam of the Ismailis, a branch of Shia Islam. ^[2] The Nizari Ismaili recognized the Aga Khan as the living, hereditary Imam, a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. In the spring of 1908, Teresa and Aga Khan III were married in Cairo, in accordance with Muslim law. Mario and his sister Emma, accompanied Teresa to Egypt and were present for the ceremony. ^[3] Afterwards, Teresa lived in Monte Carlo, Nice and northern France. She had two sons, one of whom died in infancy. She gave up dancing and became a sculptor of some renown. Sadly she died at age 37 following an operation.
