Biography

Helene Madison is Notable.

Helene was an Olympic Gold Medalist.

American competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. In sixteen months in 1930 and 1931, she broke sixteen world records in various distances at the age of 19.

She was born in Washington state to Charles William Madison and Cecelia Helen Ensby. ^[1] She grew up in Seattle Washington. ^{[2] [3]} and lived there as a married woman in 1940. ^[4]

Helene married Luther McIver in 1937 in Wenatchee, Chelan, Washington, ^[5] and had a baby in 1938.

In the 1950 census Helene Mc Iver (age 36), Teacher Of Swiming, was the wife of Luther C Mc Iver in Seattle, King, Washington.^[6]

Helene was married and divorced 3 times in total.

Helene was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1966.

Helene died in 1970 in Seattle, Washington. ^[7]

In 1990, Helene was honored on a US postage stamp. ^[8] Helene was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1992.
