Biography
He was the son of Lt Col Donald Macpherson and Ann Shaw.[1] In 1834 at Hallowell, Ontario, he married his cousin Maria Clark, daughter of his full-aunt Margaret.[2] Sir John A. Macdonald, first and third prime minister of confederated Canada, was his cousin through their mothers, and also his brother-in-law by their wives (Maria and Isabella Clark) being sisters.[2]
