Biography

Eliza Macklem, the daughter of John Macklem and Marie Magdalena Wideman was born about 1825. It is assumed that her birth location was York County, Ontario, because all of her known siblings were born there.

Eliza married John Davis on 23 Jun 1846.^[1] The marriage was by banns and was performed by the Congregationalist minister Ludwig Kribs, who performed a large number of marriages in the Stouffville area. Both Eliza and John were residents of Whitchurch at the time. The witnesses to the marriage were a John Macklem (likely Eliza's father) as well as Robert Johnson, Eliza's future brother-in-law.

On 27 June 1893 she married Elisah Miller. At the time of her marriage her surname was Davis.^[2]
