George Mackay, born about 1736, younger son of Donald Mackay, 4th Lord Reay, and his first wife, Marion Dalrymple, daughter of Sir Robert Dalrymple of Castleton, son of Sir Hugh Dalrymple, Bart. (President of the Court of Session).[1]
Although regarded as a bright youth he had a severe fall resulting in a head injury. When he succeeded to the estate curators were appointed to manage it, and he went to reside at the house of Mr. James Mackay of Skerray, where he died 26 January 1797, unmarried.
