Arnold was the son of William Machin. He was a sculptor, coin and stamp designer. The Machin series of postage stamps is the main definitive stamp series used in the United Kingdom since June 1967. In 2007, the 40th anniversary, he appeared on a stamp and a minisheet. [1]
