Biography

Donald Tuach MacKenzie was born on 14 October 1828 near Dingwell, Scotland, the son of Alex Tuach MacKenzie and Jean MacKenzie (nee Killanders).^[1][2]

He married Janet Matheson in 1854 in Scotland.^[3] The couple migrated to Australia around 18 months after their wedding, with their eldest daughter, Jane MacKenzie, in tow. The family landed in South Australia, where they stayed for two years before heading to Victoria.^[1] Janet and Donald's eldest son, Alexander Tuach MacKenzie, was born at Booboorough Station in South Australia.^[4] The rest of their children were born in Victoria:
