Edith Mary MacHarg was born in 1879 at Inverell, New South Wales (Australia). She was the fourth daughter of John MacHarg and Lucy Constance Marsden. [1] Lucy passed away in 1933 at Manly, New South Wales. Lucy was a daughter of James and Sarah A unknown. [2] The family moved to Manly, on Sydney's northern beaches but worshipped at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sydney. [3]
Edith initially procured employment as a typesetter at the Sydney Morning Herald before training and becoming a nurse at Sydney Hospital. [3]
Edith married Irish emigrant, James FitzSimons in 1911 at St Leonards, New South Wales. [4] Edith was aged 31 years. They had known one another for fifteen years, since James was Edith's Sunday School teacher at Scots Presbyterian Church, Sydney. The couple made their home at Pitlochry, 11 Bareena Avenue, Wahroonga, high on Sydney's North Shore. There they had a small citrus orchard and dozens of hens. [3]
Edith passed away in 1940 at Chatswood, New South Wales. [5]
