Biography

Constantin MacGregor is a member of Clan MacGregor.

Since Constantin appears to have only lived until his 40th year, and the same year as his sons birth, looks like he probably died in battle. The only Battle listed on the Scottish Project in that same decade is Brunanburh, fought 937

Constantin was born circa 900 to Dongallus, born circa 880, and mother Spontana, born before 880 in Ireland.

Constantin married Malvina, born BEF 920, she was the daughter of "Constantine married his cousin Malvina, daughter to King Donald VI.6"

Constantin and Malvina had one known child:

  • Gregor de Bhrattich b: BEF 940

Research Notes

Some researchers have his "Occupation as "Holy Roman Emperor" but that is not the right Constantine..

Also, Mac means "son of" so his last name was probably not Mac Gregor.

born about 850, was so termed from his light-brown complexion. He is mentioned in the family legends for his exploits under Donald VI (who reigned 879-903), grandson of Kenneth MacAlpin, in protracted contests with the Danish Vikings who for a generation ravaged the western coasts of Scotland. Doungheal died about 900. His wife is termed in some early Latin chronicles, SPONTANA, the Gaelic equivalent of which is not apparent.

Hi Brenda,

Yes, you have been pre 1700 certified, but not pre 1500 certified. This is why you are unable to edit this profile. As you will also see, one of our Leaders has placed a notification on this profile, saying that she will be working on upgrading and updating this profile. For this time period, Rootsweb and Geni trees are not classed as an acceptable source of information. If there is some information which Amy would like from you, I'm certain that she will be in touch ASAP. Cheers.
