Biography

Susan was born 1833 to Branch M. Mabry and Catherine Langford. Her parentage is established by the will of Branch Mabry. She is buried at Susan Catherine Mabry Word Cemetery. "From Bowdon at the intersection of Highway 166 and Highway 100, go south on Highway 100. At the next traffic light, bear left on Bowdon-Tyus Road and go 2.7 miles. An iron gate on the left side of the road is the entrance to the private property where the one grave is located. From the gate, walk about 398 yards down the old roadbed, then turn left and walk through the woods about 105 yards. The grave is about 25-35 feet north of an old iron buggy axel stuck upright in the ground. The grave is in a section of hardwood and is marked by two fieldstones and a cement headstone."
