Biography
Charles was born in 1848. He was the son of Charles Lyon and Mary Webb. He passed away in 1918.
Charles William and his brother, Walter John, bought the Rocester Cotton mill on 3rd July 1876. This was combined with the Tutbury cotton mill, previously owned by the Lyon family, to become part of the Tutbury mill company. Both brothers were educated at Cambridge university and excelled in most sports. This was thought to lead to the Rocester Football Club being formed after the re-opening of the cotton mill.
