Biography

George Thomas Lynn, son of John Henry Lynn, Sr., and Melinda Ann (Victor) Lynn, was born in Licking Township of Muskingum County, Ohio on 5 January 1875, as appears in the original county record of births.^[1] He was enumerated in the 1880 census at the age of five, living with his parents and siblings in Licking Township.^[2]

George became a freight conductor for the B&O Railroad and moved to Newark, Licking County, Ohio. He was living on RFD #1 in Newark when he registered for the World War I draft on 9 September 1918. In addition to confirming his full name and birth date and providing his residence and occupation, the registration describes him as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark brown hair and also lists his nearest relative as George Swan Lynn, possibly a son, living at the same address. He signed his full name to the registration.^[3]
