OBITUARY. The Late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Anne Fleay. ^[1]
After ailing for some considerable time the death of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Anne Fleay, wife of Mr. Francis W. Fleay, occurred at the residence, Gilgering, on Wednesday of last week. The deceased lady was 75 years of age and although of a retiring disposition was highly respected throughout the whole of the York and Beverley districts. She had spent the major portion of her life at Gilgering being the daughter of the Rev. Frederick Lynch who was rector of the first church at GiJgering many years ago. During her life she was a great church worker and was one of the mainstays of the church in that particular district. A husband and three sons and one daughter remain to mourn their loss.
The funeral was held on Thursday last being largely attended and representative of all parts of the surrounding districts. Prior to the interment in the Gilgering cemetery a service, conducted by the Rev. W. K. Elphick, was held in the church.
The chief mourners were :
—The husband, Fred, Frank and George (sons), Fred Lynch (brother), Mesdames Fred and Frank Fleay (daughters in-law) and Ernest and Edwin Fleay (brothers-in-law).
The pallbearers were :—Messrs. T. H. Weston, E. O. Hicks, Theo Scott, E. G. Whitfield, Roy Inkpen and Warren Marwick. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. J. L. Wansbrough and Son.
