Biography

Greenville was born in 1880. He passed away in 1917.

GREENVILLE AND HIS FATHER DICK LYKINS WERE BOTH KILLED AT THE SAME TIME ON CALVARY BRANCH IN MAGOFFIN CO KY. SHOT FROM AMBUSH.

TOLD TO ME BY MY GRANDMOTHER ABOUT HER DAD AND GRANDFATHER Posted by olpha435

GREENVILLE LYKINS AND HIS FATHER WERE SAID TO BE SHOT OFF THEIR HORSES AND KILLED IN A BOUNDARY DISPUTE OVER LAND IN MAGOFFIN. THAT IS HOW BOTH CAME TO DIE. IT IS SAID THAT GREENVILLE, MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WAS RIDING A GREAT WHIT STALLION AND IT CAME IN HOME BLOODY AS COULD BE WITH NO RIDER. HIS FATHER CRAWLED TO THE FENCE POST NEAREST BY AND STOOD UP AND THE BLOOD FROM HIS BODY SEEPED DOWN THAT FENCE POST. AND MAMAW FLOSSIE, THE DAUGHTER OF GREENVILLE LYKINS AND MY GRANDMOTHER WOULD TELL US CHILDREN WHEN WE WOULD GATHER AROUND THE FIREPLACE IN THE WINTER WHEN WE CAME TO VISIT THAT TO THIS DAY WHEN IT RAINED THAT BLOOD STILL SEEPED OUT OF THAT POST AND IT WAS STILL STANDING THERE. AND THE WAY THAT THEY FOUND OUT WHO WAS FOR SURE IN ON THE KILLING WAS AN OLD LADY TOLD IT ON HER DEATH BED. SHE SAID THAT MY GREAT GRANDFATHER GREENVILLE RODE UP TO HER FRONT PORCH AND TOLD HER TO TELL ALL WHO WERE IN ON IT AND NOT LET HER HUSBAND OR BOYS OR WHATEVER TAKE THE BLAME ALONE. AND SHE TOLD WHO ALL WAS IN ON IT. NOW THAT IS WHAT WAS TOLD AS A CHLD I LISTENED RAPTLY AT MY GRANDMOTHER'S KNEE.
