Sidney Firth Lumb was born in 1893 in Collingwood, Victoria, Australia, the son of Phoebe (McCann) Lumb and Thomas Francis Lumb.[1]
On 10 November 1914, Sidney, a single dental student at University of Melbourne, aged 21 years, enlisted with the Australian Army at a Private with the 1 Australian General Hospital. Next of kin was his mother, Mrs Phoebe Lumb, 21 Lorne Street, Moonee Ponds, Victoria. Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board Transport A55 Kyarra on 21 November 1914. He was awarded the Cross of St. George - 3rd Class (Russia) for bravery at Gallipoli.[2] He was Commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant on 15 June 1918 serving with the 1st Light Horse Regiment.[3]
Sidney married Edith Mary Wray in Victoria in 1927.[4]
Sidney married a second time.[5]
In 1959 Sidney (University of Queensland Professor) lived in Norman Park, Brisbane.[6]
Sidney died on 28 April 1988 in Queensland.[7]
