Mavis June Lucky was born on June 1, 1925, in St Joseph, Missouri. She was the daughter of Benjamin Lucky and Mavis Kelly, her father, Benjamin, was 49, and her mother, Mavis, was 45.

She had five brothers and five sisters. She passed away on February 18, 1995, in Lake Wales, Florida, at the age of 69, and was buried in Bushnell, Florida.
