William Lower served in the United States Civil War.

William was born in 1838. He was the son of John Lower and Mary Hamilton. He and his wife Ann survived the Great Chicago Fire only to return several years later and lose everything again in another fire. They left Chicago for Minnesota where they spent the rest of their lives. He passed away in 1899.
