Biography

John Lowe and his wife Elizabeth were of Boston by 1636/7. He was a wheelwright. (p. 12536)[1]


  • 1636/7: March 23: john Lowe, wheelwright, granted a lot for house and garden. [1] [2]
  • 1637: Feb. 19: Granted a great lot at the Mount for four heads. (? cattle) [2]
  • 1637: Sept. 25: John granted 2 1/2 acres marsh for a house and yard. [1] [2]
  • 1642: May 15: Elizabeth Low, wife of John Low, wheelwright, admitted to the First Church at Boston. (p. 26)[3]
  • 1645: Aug. 19: John bought lands of Edward Bendall between the dock and Ann St. [1]
  • 1651/2: January 26: John deed lands to Sampson Shore and Leonard Buttles. [1]
  • 1652: He and other residents of Conduit St., petitioned the General Court about with concerns for fresh water for their families, and a water source in case of fire. On June 1, 1652, the court those inhabitants/petitioners would become incorporated and manage the waterworks and elect wardens for such annually. (V. 13: p. 18) [4]
  • 1652: Oct. 9: John to john Ward, wharf and dock. [1]

John died at Boston on Dec. 1, 1653. [5] His estate was probated on January 25, 1653/4, to wife and son Anthony. [1]
