Biography

Catherine de Lorraine or de Mayenne, was the daughter of Charles de Lorraine, duc de Mayenne, amiral and Grand Chambellan de France, and his wife Henriette de Savoie, Marquise de Villars, Comtesse de Tende, and was probably born in 1585.[1]

She married in February 1599 at Soissons, Charles de Gonzague (Carlo Gonzaga), 12th Duc de Nevers, Pair de France, who later succeeded to the Italian territories of Mantua e Montferrato.[1]

She died aged 33, at the l'Hôtel de Nevers, in Paris, on 8 March 1618 and was buried in the choeur of Nevers Cathédrale.[1]
