Biography

Margaret Effie Looker was born on 24th September 1883 at Hobart, Tasmania (Australia). She was the eldest daughter of George Looker and Fanny Dickson. ^[1]

Having attained her majority (turned 21 years), Margaret emigrated from Australia, embarking on an overseas voyage in 1905. ^[2]

On 20th July 1915, Margaret was commissioned as a Nurse (Lieutenant) in the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS). Later promoted to Sister (Captain), she returned to Australia 2nd October 1919. ^[3]

She passed away, unmarried, aged 78 years, on 23rd July 1962 at Heidelberg, Victoria. ^[4]
