Biography

Martha Ann Logan was born on 7 November 1861 in Larne, County Antrim, Ireland, daughter of Glasgow Logan (~1838–1916) and Martha Ann McDowell (~1840–1924).

Martha (21) married William McDowell (35) (born in 1847 in Ireland) on 6 February 1883 in Clutha, Otago, New Zealand.[1] Their children were:

  1. Andrew Logan McDowell (1883 – 9 August 1952)
  2. Ellen Mary McDowell (11 January 1886 – 1976)
  3. William Gordon McDowell (7 November 1888 – unknown)
  4. John Milne McDowell (1891 – 22 December 1971)
  5. Edith Martha McDowell (10 February 1893 – 4 November 1978)
  6. Esther Louise McDowell (1899 – 24 November 1965)
  7. Margaret Alice McDowell (23 April 1903 – 14 October 1967)

Martha died on 27 May 1953 in Gore, Southland, New Zealand, aged 91.[2] She was buried in Gore Cemetery, Gore, Gore District, Southland, New Zealand (plot: 16, Block 54).[3]
