No record has been found of the birth of Samuel Livermore, According to the 1874 history of Livermore, Maine, and the 1860 Watertown Genealogies, he was born in April 1778, the youngest son of Samuel Livermore and Hannah (Clark) Livermore. The former source gives his birth date as 6 Apr 1778, the latter source has the date as 21 Apr 1778 and names him as the twin brother of Betsey Livermore, who died at the age of 1.[1][2] His parents' last child was recorded in Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1770, and they settled permanently in Livermore in 1779. Their residence in 1778 is unknown, but they may have been living temporarily at Winthrop, Maine (then in Massachusetts).[3]
Marriage
Samuel Livermore and Lura Chase both of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), published their intention to marry at Livermore on 4 Mar 1801 and were married there on 16 Apr 1801.[4]
Character
From the 1928 history of Livermore:
He was elected in 1813 to the Great and General Court [of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts] and was considered to be a genial, comfortable, easy-going man, not very keen in a trade as was evident by the gradual disappearance of his property.[5]
Death
Samuel Livermore died on 26 Nov 1823,[1] and he is buried at the Hillman Ferry Cemetery in Livermore, Maine. His FindAGrave memorial has a photo of a gravestone, but the text on it cannot be read from the photo.[6]
